Description
The Hippo Paperweight is carved by hand from Charcoal (dyed) soapstone quarried in the Tabaka hills, then shaped, sanded and given a matte finish in our Nakuru workshop. Measures roughly 10 × 6 × 5 cm. Because every piece is carved individually, grain, colour and size vary slightly — the one you receive is unique. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; keep away from harsh cleaners.
The story of this piece
“Carved by apprentices in their first year — the hippo is the shape every Tabaka carver starts with.”
